Posted on: May 10th, 2008 by Garry RobertsonProduct agency, Viator has formed a partnership with EasyJet in the rapidly emerging destination service sector.
The agreement highlights an expansion for the low cost airline after EasyJet Holidays was unveiled in the summer of 2007. Products will range from almost 50 countries across Europe and North Africa utilizing EasyJet.com.
Viator’s role will be to sell destination-based products i.e. tours, excursions and expeditions, as well as trips to museums and other tourist activities. The collaboration between EasyJet and Viator is expected to raise stiff competition between Viator and its European rival Isango. Isango has recently made a deal with EasyJet rival, Ryanair at the start of 2008.
Leo Purcell, who is EasyJet’s partnership manager, said that Viator and EasyJet have a similar approach when it comes to treating customers well and providing the highest quality. He added that EasyJet is excited to form a partnership with Viator’s white label so that EasyJet’s clients can book their destination-activities ahead of time.
The agreement gives an experienced firm like Viator a strong footprint into Europe and the collaboration is reflective of burgeoning demand for its services, online destination product, and content.
Chairman and founder of Viator, Rod Cuthbert commented on the deal saying, knowing what you want to do and booking your destination activities before hand has never been so important. As more tourists are pre-booking, popular attractions often have no room for those who wait until the last minute to arrange for their destination activities.
