Virgin Atlantic announces slash in fares

Virgin Atlantic has announced that it has slashed its rates – upper class tickets of thirteen international flights from London’s Heathrow airport will cost less, according to published reports.

For flights headed to seven destinations in the U.S., these reductions will now take effect – Boston, New York, Michigan, Washington D.C., San Francisco, Miami, and Los Angeles.

Similarly, ticket prices to other global destinations like Indian cities – Delhi and Mumbai, Shanghai in China, Nairobi and Lagos in Africa, will also be cut.

Virgin’s return flights will start from 1,999 pounds, which will include taxes and other miscellaneous charges. The discount will be in effect until June 24, 2008 and will include flights that are booked until the end of the year.

Virgin Atlantic’s sales and marketing director, Paul Dickenson commented on the price changes saying the Virgin Atlantic upper-class flight is now even more affordable and “better than ever.”

The airline is popular for its upper class segment, which allows passengers to ride from their limo to Heathrow Airport’s lounge in London in about ten minutes. The chauffeur of the limousine checks in passengers, who can then proceed through the security channel and into the Virgin Atlantic clubhouse.

Dickenson continued to say that the upper class division at Heathrow gives passengers a chance to unwind at the award-winning clubhouse before boarding their flight. In effect, he said, the opportunity to fly upper class all year round makes it a not to miss opportunity.

According to Virgin, the recent problems linked with Heathrow airport’s Terminal 5 have diverted passengers to Terminal 3, where the carrier’s brand-new facility is located.
