Welsh couple involved in car crash

Tragedy struck on the island of Cyprus recently, leaving a Welsh woman in critical condition and her husband dead after an accident in their hire car. Ann and Rhys Taylor were planning to spend six months on the Mediterranean island in their retirement condo, but fate had another plan in store for the couple.

57-year old Anne, an employee of the student support centre in Cardiff, told reporters, “We had lunch and were driving back. I fell asleep and the next thing I know I’ve woken up in the car and I’m bleeding and Rhys is asking me if I’m all right. He sounded fine. He said, ‘Anne, are you OK?’ I said, ‘Yes, I’ll be fine,’ not realising what had happened. He sounded perfectly normal.”

But later that day when the couple was in the hospital, Anne was told her husband was in critical condition, and he passed away later that day. The couple were planning an eventual full retirement on the island.
