WestJet offers flights from $20.08
Posted on: January 4th, 2008 by Hannah WestfieldDiscount carrier WestJet is marketing a new special, aimed to attract passengers looking to travel on short-haul, regional trips during the New Year. The airline has just announced tickets for flights from Montreal to Toronto for only $20.08, as a way to welcome 2008. When taxes and surcharges are calculated in, however, clients should expect a round-trip ticket for this one hour and fifteen minute flight to total $140.10. This is, however, still less expensive than purchasing a train ticket at full price, for travel between Canada’s two largest cities. Tickets from Toronto to Ottawa are also priced at $20.08 and when taxes are included, the total price stands at $113.93 on round-trip airfare. Tickets from Toronto to Calgary cost $159 each way.
WestJet does permit passengers to cancel or change their reservations, but in some cases, these modifications may incur a fee. Those who wish to cancel a ticket, may do so on the same day that they booked their ticket, but will generally only receive a credit, which can be applied to the price of a WestJet plane ticket at a later date. Those who wish to receive a cash refund will have to pay a $20 to $40 cancellation fee, which will be deducted from the total amount to be returned to a client’s credit card. It is normally possible to make changes to WestJet tickets up to two hours prior the departure of a flight, but passengers should keep in mind that credits are not given in the case of no-shows.
WestJet is Canada’s second largest airline. Clients who hold MasterCard Air Miles cards should use these when booking, as WestJet will issue double reward points, which helps clients accumulate travel miles faster.
