Whitbread’s New Compact Hotel Concept Can be Controlled by Apps

hub by Premier Inn roomThe future of hotel rooms is finally here, at least the future that Whitbread has in store for travellers. This company, which is the owner of the Premier Inn chain, has recently launched its compact hotel rooms called hub by Premier Inn. These rooms are designed for hotels that are in cities with limited space so that the company can get more rooms in each hotel. These rooms are not only small but are also completely controlled by online apps.

Although Whitbread is already working on getting hub by Premier Inn up and running, the group did say that it will not be accepting guest at hub by Premier Inn locations until the summer of 2014. To start with, hub by Premier Inn will be limited to London. From there, Whitbread will release more hub by Premier Inns in Edinburgh. If all goes well, it will continue launching more hub by Premier Inns around the UK and eventually into other countries.

Whitbread said that it decided to make these rooms for people who want good value for their money. Although the room is only 11 square meters big, it has everything that someone could want in a room. This is because they have been designed to save space. In the end, these rooms are perfect for people who want value more than space.

Hub by Premier Inn rooms actually don’t feel as small as what they are. This is because all hub by Premier Inn rooms come with windows. This keeps people from feeling like they are trapped in a little room. On top of this, the price of these rooms will be nearly 30 percent less than the current cost of rooms at Premier Inn, which is already a budget hotel. These rooms can be priced so cheap because Whitbread is able to get more rooms in each hotel.

As far as features go, hub by Premier Inn rooms will have more than what they first appear to have. The layout of these rooms includes a desk that actually folds into a bed. On top of this, each room comes with its own bathroom that features walls that are see-through halfway up, so you can see into the room. Due to the fact that the walls of the shower are more like windows than walls, it makes the room feel more open. The rooms will also have free Wi-Fi and 40-inch smart TVs.

Controlling things in the room has never been easier. Everything in the room can be controlled with the Whitbread Hub Hotel App. People can use this app to do everything from changing the temperature in their room to ordering room service. In fact, this will be the very first hotel in the UK that allows guests to control their room using an app.

Whitbread says that this app goes way beyond just letting consumers check in online. It also allows guests to set lighting and room temperature before they even arrive. This way, the hub by Premier Inn that the guest is staying in is set up just the way they like it when they arrive. They can even go as far as to choose a radio or TV channel they want playing when they arrive in the room. This app can be accessed via a phone, tablet or right on the room’s TV.
