White Christmas bets are being slashed in odds
Posted on: December 17th, 2009 by Taylor SmithEvery year it is the same deal that we find plastered across our newspapers and magazines, people talking of whether or not we will have a white Christmas. The betting shops have big signs up as soon as it gets into December and are people are discussing it in the pub. It goes much like the discussion of England winning the World Cup again, which is fairly unlikely.
However this year, dare I say it, we might actually get that white Christmas and all those that have placed a bet can smile as the odds are looking up. The weather has been getting colder over these past few weeks and the Met Office has been saying for some time now we are due some snow.
In parts of London yesterday it finally came and the snow was coming down quite thick and fast. Kids were out on the way to school having snowball fights while the older generations were either tucked up in bed still or walking very delicately to the corner shop to get the daily newspaper.
With England you come to expect very little in the way of return for everything we do for her. In the summer we were all waiting expectantly for that barbeque summer that never arrived and now most of us are waiting for the snow on Christmas Day. During the summer next year there will be plenty of us around waiting for England to lift the World Cup, but not holding our breath.
