Wife of prominent evangelist hit with air rage lawsuit

Victoria Osteen, who is married to US celebrity evangelist Joel Osteen, now faces a major lawsuit by a Continental Airlines flight attendant who claims that she was the victim of air rage. According to Sharon Brown, a member of Continental’s cabin crew, Osteen pushed her against a wall during a flight and then even elbowed her in the chest.

Brown is actually looking to receive 10 percent of Osteen’s net worth in a trial that starts this week. The Continental flight attendant noted that ever since the air rage episode, she has had to deal with both physical and psychological trauma, including anxiety and an apparent crisis of faith. The actual incident, however, happened back in late 2005, but the civil suit will only go before a judge this month. According to court documents filed by Brown, Osteen was upset because she had repeatedly asked a flight attendant to clean up a spill near her seat, but her efforts proved to be in vain. When no one came by, Osteen became irritated and reportedly pushed Brown against the lavatory door. It should, however, be noted that accounts of what transpired on the Continental flight vary greatly.

After the incident, Osteen and her luggage were removed from the plane and other passengers had to endure a major delay because of this. Osteen has already had to pay out $3,000 as a fine for the incident.
