Wizz Air set to increase flights by 35%
Posted on: December 27th, 2007 by Garry RobertsonWizz Air, the Hungarian-Polish low cost airline, is getting ready to increase the frequency of its flights, as well as the number of its routes in the first half of 2008. The carrier, which advertises itself as East Central Europe’s largest discount airline, has announced that the number of flights departing from Budapest’s Ferihegy Airport will rise by 27% during Summer 2008, when compared with figures from the same period this year. This translates to 15 new flights each week from the Hungarian capital. Wizz Air has also announced that it will be flying to three new destinations from it base in Budapest, including to Goteborg, Oslo-Torp and Venice-Treviso. Additionally, some of the most popular seasonal summer destinations—such Bourgas and Varna in Bulgaria, as well as Corfu, Heraklion and Rhodes in Greece—will once again become operational, as of June 2008.
In addition to the developments at its Budapest base, Wizz Air is planning on increasing capacity by about 40% at the Katowice Airport, as well as oversee a 38% augmentation in the number of flights from Gdansk, Poland. Since the greatest expansion is set to occur at the Katowice Airport, Wizz Air has announced that it would add an extra Airbus A320 aircraft to this base, in order to meet increasing demand.
Wizz Air is also trying to encourage travelers to buy their summer tickets as early as possible, by offering airfare during the peak travel season from only EUR 34.99. The easiest way to book Wizz Air tickets is to visit the carrier’s website at www.wizzair.com .
