Woman conned sports cars for her car rental business
Posted on: August 26th, 2009 by Samantha WilliamsPolice in Mumbai are hunting a 22-year-old female after it is alleged that she swindled people out of their luxury motors for her car rental agency and then sold them on the black market.
Police are now on the lookout for Agnes Menezes, who according to the complaint filed approached at least 12 people on the Mira Road in Mumbai and convinced them to loan her their high end cars for her company, Menezes Rentals.
“According to the complaint, she approached the victims, all residents of Mira Road and persuaded them to buy expensive cars and then loan them to her. She told them that she would provide them Rs 20,000-25,000 per month (around ?300). This sum would not only take care of the EMIs on the car loan, but also bring them some profit,” said an officer from the Mira Road Police Station.
So far police have only managed to trace two cars and return them to their rightful owners after an earlier complaint about Miss Menezes. All parties that had loaned their cars to the young lady said at first there was no problem and they would receive payments every month, but then they suddenly stopped and she had disappeared.
