The airline Yemenia has said that they will reconsider an order they placed for ten Airbus A350s because of the lack of support Airbus showed after the recent Comoros air crash.
The chairman for Yemenia, Abdul Khaleq al-Qadi said the manufacturer had jumped to conclusions after the accident and told media that the crash was a result of technical difficulties. The plane crashed Tuesday of last week, killing 153, but miraculously a young girl was found alive in the water off of Comoros.
Al-Qadi spoke of his disappointment with both France and Airbus for their reaction to the accident and for neither showing any “moral support” to Yemenia.
The flight went from Paris to Marseille and then on to Sanaa in Yemen on a newer Airbus A310. From there the flight was switched to an older A310 for the onward journey to Comoros where it crashed on the final approach to Comoros.
Protest in France ensued after the crash blaming Yemenia for flying a plane 19 years old that was not fit for service. French government also issued a statement to Yemenia saying that if their planes were not brought up to date in safety standards, the airline would be banned from flying into Europe. Yemenia are saying that bad weather was the more likely cause of the accident.
