Yotel at Gatwick Airport
Posted on: June 24th, 2007 by Dave AndersonThe Yotel has been promoted as a new hotel concept that is designed to make travel far more enjoyable. IFA Hotels and Resorts are the people behind this fairly revolutionary advance in airport accommodation. This Gatwick (Yotel) hotel is the first to be sited within a UK airport terminal and is said to be the first of many around the world. It is situated in the south terminal and provides passengers in transit with an environment for relaxation, refreshment and work if they so desire. It is ideal for travellers that have an early check in time as they can relax and refresh before their flight. The units are bookable from four hours or overnight from £25. The long term aim of Yotel is to make the service invaluable to the frequent traveller.
The model for the two tier Yotel Cabin system was based on that seen in business class airline cabins and luxury yachts. The units come as ‘Premium,’ which has a full sized double bed or ‘Standard,’ which is fitted with a large single bed. Both the units have sufficient space for two people and have an en-suite bathroom and full entertainment facilities.
The credit for this new idea must go to Simon Woodroffe the founder of Yo! His aim was to create cabins that provide a first class hotel standard at a very reasonable price. Eventually it is hoped that Yotels will spring up all around the world making airline travel a bit easier and more comfortable for us all.
