Zoom Airlines expands summer routes to the UK

Zoom Airlines, a Canadian discount carrier which focuses on connecting cities in Canada to destinations in the United Kingdom, Ireland and continental Europe, has decided to significantly expand its offering next summer. Zoom has confirmed that it will offer two new weekly non-stop flights between Toronto and Manchester, as well as a Vancouver to Manchester route. The carrier has also announced that it would start offering weekly direct flights (to depart each Thursday) from Vancouver to Glasgow. In addition to increasing the airline’s summer schedule, Zoom has also decided to add more flights during next year’s Easter holidays. The carrier will also start offering direct Sunday flights from Ottawa to London Gatwick, as of May 2009.

While Zoom concentrates on linking Canada to destinations in the UK-at lower prices than those offered by British Airways and Air Canada on these same routes-the airline has also started to expand its presence in the United States and aims to offer better connections from American airports to cities in Britain. As part of this plan, Zoom has decided to start flying from San Diego (California) to London’s Gatwick Airport

Although Zoom Airlines is a discount carrier, passengers may choose to fly in either regular economy or the premium cabin. While all passengers are offered a complimentary hot meal on transatlantic routes, as well as a snack before landing, those in premium class get to enjoy better seat pitch, as well as an improved selection of free alcoholic beverages.
