Zoom Airlines increases transatlantic flights

Zoom Airlines, a Canadian discount carrier specializing in flights between Canada and the United Kingdom, has decided to increase the number of transatlantic flights in anticipation of a busy summer travel season. Starting at the beginning of July, the carrier will offer two flights per week between Toronto and Cardiff, as well as a weekly flight from Cardiff to Vancouver. Lori Burke, Zoom’s marketing manager, has described the increase in the number of passengers on the Toronto to Cardiff route as “exceptional,” ever since the Canadian airline first began flying to the city three years ago.

Zoom has a reputation of offering some of the lowest transatlantic fares of any carrier. For example, the Toronto to Cardiff route is currently priced at only £329, in the case of an all-inclusive return ticket. In addition to this route, Zoom also offers regular flights between Toronto’s Pearson Airport and London Gatwick, as well as to Manchester, Belfast and Glasgow. A smaller handful of continental European destinations are also offered during the summer months, including Paris and Rome. The carrier also provides regular flights from Montreal-Trudeau to Gatwick.

Although Zoom is a discount carrier, passengers can expect to receive relatively high quality service on board, in both the regular economy and premium economy cabins. This includes a hot meal aboard all transatlantic flights, as well as free non-alcoholic drinks. Founded in May 2002, Zoom Airlines is headquartered in Ottawa, Canada’s national capital. The carrier operates a small fleet of five planes and flies to 15 destinations.
