Zoom Airlines—which connects major airports in the United Kingdom with a range of destinations in Canada—is offering a New Year special for those British passengers who wish to fly across the
Atlantic in order to enjoy Canadian ski resorts. Zoom is one of a small handful of low-cost airlines that connect the UK and the
Canada, with other discount options including Air Transat and Thomas Cook. Zoom, however, appears to be trying to give the competition a run for its money by offering all-inclusive return airplane tickets from all UK departures to both Montreal and Toronto for as little as £249. Return trips from cities in the UK to
Vancouver (near some of the best skiing locations in the world) cost only £349. In order to receive these deeply reduced rates, however, it is necessary to book all tickets by no later than December 10, 2007, on Zoom’s main website (www.flyzoom.com ). While tickets must be reserved and paid for in the coming days, the actual departure may take place at any point between January 10th and April 30, 2008.
Zoom’s vice president in charge of marketing, David Clements, noted that these fares are among the lowest on the market and that while they may appeal primarily to enthusiasts of winter sports, those who simply want to spend a few days taking in the vibrant and cosmopolitan cultural scene in Canada’s two largest cities—Montreal and Toronto—can also take advantage of these low airfares. Those, however, who are specifically interested in skiing and snowboarding may be thrilled to note that Environment Canada is predicting high levels of snow fall for much of the country and the coldest winter in the past 15 years.
