Zoom offers direct Winnipeg to London route
Posted on: May 28th, 2008 by Frank ToddZoom Airlines, the Canadian discount carrier, has announced the opening of a route from Winnipeg, Manitoba, to London’s Gatwick Airport. Zoom is offering tickets connecting the British capital to what has been traditionally known as the gateway to Western Canada for as little as $299 each way. Zoom, in fact, is currently the only airline to offer Winnipeg residents a direct air link to the UK.
Although Zoom has a reputation of being a discount carrier, passengers can rest assured that they will be offered complimentary meals, snacks and beverages on the flight, just like on most “full service” airlines. All passengers travelling from points of departure in North America to destinations in Europe are provided a hot meal, a snack prior to landing and free non-alcoholic drinks throughout the flight. Economy class passengers have a 20kg checked baggage allowance and entertainment on overhead screens is offered on all long-haul flights. Those looking for a little additional comfort, however, can book a seat in the premium economy cabin, which offers additional legroom, free headsets, free alcoholic drinks throughout the flight and express baggage delivery upon arrival.
Established in 2002, Zoom Airlines is based on Ottawa, Canada’s national capital. Although the carrier focuses on connecting Canada to cities in the UK, seasonal routes are also offered to France and to Italy, as well as to destinations in the Caribbean.
